'옴파로스' 氏가 남긴 것/ Herr Nabel Von Welt
스페이스 원은 9월 19일 부터 사라 목크와 김재민이의 콜레보레이션 그룹인 PHASO (Post Human Archaeological Studies Organization) 의 컬렉션을 선보인다.
옴파로스氏(Herr Nabel Von Welt) 는 세상의 중심이라는 그 이름처럼 어떤 상황에서도 본인을 우위에 놓는 자기 중심적 인물이었다. 이 남자는 자신이 존재하는 세계를 스스로 파괴하고 있었던 것을 알고 있었을까? 그가 남긴 유물은 현재 인간의 태도를 반영할까? PHASO의 말없는 유물과 발굴된 물건들은 문명과 자연 사이의 모호한 경계를 보여주고 관람자에게 인류세의 삶에 대해 질문을 던진다.

김재민이는 서울에서 거주하며 활발한 전시 활동을 하고 있다. 첼시예술대학원 순수예술과와 골드스미스 컬리지 도시문화와 사진과 석사를 마치고 현재 실버 영화관에서 일하며 공공미술 프로젝트와 개인작업을 하고 있다. 유럽과 한국 여러도시에서 전시하며 최근 전시에는 2015 ‘장수의 비결’ 보안여관 윈도우 1인전, 서울; 2014피아노레슨’ 퍼포먼스 , 스페이스오뉴월 ‘축발전’ 성북동 프로젝트; 2014 ‘아침벌레, 저녁풀’ 코너갤러리 1인전 등이 있다.
사라 목크는 독일 보름스에서 거주하며 활동하는 작가이다. Academys of Fine Arts Mainz 와 Kassel 그리고 Meisterschülerin 로 UDK 베를린을 졸업한 목크는 독일 DAAD 장학금을 받고 현재 한국에서 활동 중이다. 그의 초현실주의적 영상, 조각 및 설치는 도시 공간의 무의식, 문화와 인공의 관계를 개입한다. 그는 2014/ finalist Future Storytelling/ Haus der Kulturen der Welt 베를린; 2014 Classroom, NY Art Book Fair, MoMA PS1, 뉴욕, 미국; 2012/ award of the Mannheim art prize of the Heinrich Vetter- foundation 등을 획득하며 활발하게 활동하고 있다.
Space One presents 'Herr Nabel von Welt', the collection of PHASO or Post-Human Archaeological Studies Organization, a collaborative project by Sarah Mock and Gemini Kim.
'Nabel der Welt' is one who thinks of oneself to be the center of everything. 'Herr von Welt' is a male who behaves superior in all things. Is this the attitude of today's human nature? Is 'Herr Nabel von Welt' biting the hand that feeds him/her?
Silent relics and excavations of PHASO depict the fluid border between cultural and natural things provoking questions of current human state.
Gemini Kim lives and works in Seoul, Korea. He gained his MFA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design, MA in Urban Culture and Photography from Goldsmiths College. Currently he is on his public art task in Seoul and Incheon along with his personal art projects such as PHASO and other archaeological programs. Some of his recent shows include 2015 'Secret to Long Life’, Boan Inn, Solo Show, Seoul; 2014 ‘Piano Lesson’, Space O’NewWall, Seoul; 2014 ‘Life of Cordyceps’, Corner Gallery, Solo Show, Seoul.
Sarah Mock studied Media Art in the Academys of Fine Arts Mainz and Kassel before graduating as Meisterschülerin at UDK Berlin. Her surrealistic videos, sculptures and installations intervene with the relationships between culture, the artificiality of urban spaces, and the subconscious. Her last video work "The Deluge“ was developed and recorded during a three-month artist residency in Seoul Art Space Geumcheon, South Korea. Currently she is in South Korea with a travel scholarship from DAAD Germany.
