Useless Wearable Project는 이세미와 이영주, 두 작가가 '종이'라는 매체를 기반으로 드로잉, 사진, 패션, 출판 등 장르를 넘나들며 서로의 예술 세계를 영감하고 교차하는 지점을 표현해내는 프로젝트이다.
"종이 위에 ‘그려진’ 것이 아닌 드로잉이 존재할 수 있을까? 종이의 흰 면이 드로잉을 할 수 있는 ‘종이’로 보여지는 사진을 찍을 수 있을까? 퍼포먼스의 순간을 어떻게 책의 ‘페이지’로 보여줄 수 있을까?
Useless Wearable한 종이옷의 탄생은 이 질문들에서 시작되었고, -less와 -able의 공존 속에서 진화하고 확장한다.
종이-옷-이 프린트된 또 다른 종이-책-사진-의 실제 종이옷-설치-퍼포먼스까지 UW Project 는 폼이란 공간안에서 장소 특정적인 다양한 형태의 전시를 선보인다.
<MOONiverse>
이영주의 퍼포먼스 <MOONiverse> 는 이번 전시를 위해 특별 제작된 UW Project의 새로운 옷과 함께, 달을 기리는 9분 동안의 퍼포먼스가 이루어진다.
UW project is a collaboration between Semi Lee and Young-Joo Lee inspired by questions of, Is it possible to draw ‘off’ the paper? Can the white surface of paper in a photograph be ‘drawable’? How can a performance be captured into a page of a book?
The two artists combine paper, drawing, photography, performance and fashion in illuminating their search for being and creating whether what comes of may be useless.
From paper-clothes-photographed-printed on paperbound as a book-to real paper clothes-installed-performed; UW Project is unfolding various new forms site specifically within the space FOAM.
